ABOUT US
Bribie Island is an island community of approximately 15,000 people, one hour north of Brisbane in Qld. The atmosphere on the island is friendly, supportive and the residents embrace the many first class sporting facilities, two golf courses and surf beach with enthusiasm. We are the southern most team playing in the Sunshine Coast Competition. The club has excellent all weather fields and recently completed extensions and renovations to our clubhouse and the addition of grandstands ensure we have one of the best facilities on the Sunshine Coast. Upgraded lighting to be installed in late 2013 will improve this. Bribie Junior Warrigals have a proud history and a great relationship with the Senior club and we welcome all new players to the club . We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship. Warrigal History
Bribie Island is situated 80 km's north of Brisbane. With one of the most pristine beaches in Queensland it attracts many thousands of tourists each year, traveling north for the warmer weather in winter. If you plan on being one of those winter travelers why not come and support the "Bribie Island Warrigals" rugby league side. Initially one team only; consisting of a combined year level - of under 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's, 11's &12's. The club has certainly come a long way from the days where the whole team, were put in the back of an electrician's van, traveling to their various competition games. Today we boast over 200 registered players. Fielding teams in the following age groups - under 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's, 11's, 12's, 13's, 14's, 15's & 16's Founding committee members were Lois Harvey, Graeme Daunt, Bobby Hunter, Sandra & Graham Humphries, Brian Deizmann, Alan & Ann Barraud. Many of These same members are still involved with the club in many ways today. It is great to see the Grandsons of some of those members now playing Rugby League for the very same club they founded. Over the years many of the Bribie Island Juniors have made representative level, with the talent in our present teams continuing to do so. The mission statement of the Bribie Island Junior Rugby League Club is to promote foster and encourage children, from all backgrounds, regardless of religion, race, disability or wealth, to safely participate and enjoy the sport of Rugby League. |
